Transparent PNG-8: Using the Polygono Lasso Tool, I selected the Pear's edges, inverted and deleted the surrounding picture leaving a transparent background. I inverted the selection and slowly removed any leftover pixals around the pear's edges to give it as clean a look as possible. Returning to the selection of the pear I added an outer glow of 3 pixals. Selecting only the pear, I added a drop shadow and converted it to a layer afterwards. Matte Background JPG: Using the Polygono Lasso Tool, I selected the Fire Hydrant's edges, inverted and deleted the surrounding picture leaving a transparent background. Inverting back to the original selection, I added a drop shadow, converted it to its own layer and than warped the shadow a bit. Next, I created a new layer and filled it with the paint bucket tool using a color used on my web site. I placed this layer below the transparent one. I then saved this file for the web as a JPG image.
Transparent PNG-8: Working from the same PSD file, hid the background layer and saved this file for the web as a PNG-8 file matching the matte color to my website.
